Bligny-sur-Ouche – New Page

Watch out. A new page is coming from Bligny-sur-Ouche. A compact little town with at least a couple of bar / restaurants, and a fine, helpful tourist information office. It boasts a 13c church on top of a hill. But the highlight for me is the tourist railway, the Chemin de Fer de la Vallée de l’Ouche (CFVO) that runs between Bligny-sur-Ouche and Pont d’Ouche.

The page is now ready at Bligny-sur-Ouche.

Auxerre – New page

Another new page of photos added from a recent visit. So many ancient buildings remain in really great condition and the cathedral and abbey are worth a look. Click the Auxerre page to view.

Guedelon – New page

I visited years ago when there really wasn’t that much to see. This time there was obvious progress that had been carried out over the intervening years using the same 13th century techniques that make this project worthwhile. The skill of these craftsmen and women is undoubted. Everything for the project is made here down to the quarrying of the stone for the walls. See the page Guedelon and comment if you wish.

Swimming lake at Étang De Montaubry

I read about the lake when someone was asking where they could wild swim. This lake was suggested, but it had a lot of bad reviews for litter.

When I arrived at the main car park there are “dry toilets” were functioning, though I’m not a fan, they worked, nevertheless they are there. Every bin I saw had been recently emptied and there were 5 municipal vans with numerous workers restoring the picnic area and benches. There were several people swimming and paddleboarding, and enjoying the lake. All in all a great surprise condidering the reviews. I have put a picture on the Nature page . I hope you visit soon and enjoy the lake.

Chatillon en Bazois – New page

I took a little trip to Chatillon en Bazois for a stroll on the canal Nivernais and onto look at the 16 ecluses near La Collancelle (L’échelle des 16 écluses). Only a few photos on page Chatillon En Bazois. It’s a small town but seeems to be a thriving centre for cyclists.

Château de Pontus de Tyard new page

A trip to Château de Pontus de Tyard which is cared for by a trust. Situated in the village of Bissy sur Fley, Saone et Loire the chateau is 13th century. Very pleasant and quiet day, well worth the visit. The page is at Château de Pontus de Tyard. There are attached gardens where vines of old Burgundy grape varieties are planted and also varieties of fruit trees are present which are contemporary with the chateau.
